In The Canton Cottage
Jarlath Fahyi am sitting in the canton cottage
in salthill eating number 16
duckling with bamboo shoots
and water-chestnuts
everybody's getting takeaways
the phone rings continuously
and the Chinese woman
answers "hullo canton cottage"
they arrive on foot or in taxis
fresh faced men, women
who leave the scent of perfume
behind them some have to look up
to make sure its the canton cottage
most walk straight in its all action
how come they all look like
they'v interrupted their love making
just to run out and grab a take away
and in a few short minutes you know
once they've gobbled down their food
they'll be back to it again
