AFTER THE FIREWOKS
David Trame
Early morning, the city asleep,
your corridors rosy with silence,
emptiness gently taking you by the wrist and irises,
Eden's taste in the absolutely noiseless
gulls' webbed feet pacing on the flat roof
and in the shot of their wings when they take off
which imbued with stillness is silent too.
And you walking barefoot,
the blazing sun disc still behind the wall,
would like more time without time like now,
the window open, your cheeks in a sky
whose nearness is all over, standing by,
gods' barefoot unheard steps in chambers
of silent sunrise, when they don't need the day
and the bustle is all inside,
an inner smile that quietly expands
and adheres to the ground
exactly like the gulls' webbed feet
and their pupils staring beyond breath.
